Results of the 5th-round matches in the European Club Cup in chess finalized

The games of the 5th round of the European Club Cup in chess, held in Budva, Montenegro, have come to an end. In the men’s competition, our representative “Vüqar Həşimov” lost to Slovakia’s “Slavia” club 2.5:3.5, finishing in 22nd place with 6 points. Our women’s team, represented by “Odlar Yurdu”, overcame Serbia’s “Crvena Zvezda” team with a score of 3:1, sharing the 2nd–3rd places with 8 points.

As reported by Postxronika.az, citing the Ministry of Sport, in the 6th round of the tournament “Vüqar Həşimov” will face Germany’s “FC St. Pauli 1910”, while “Odlar Yurdu” will play against Luxembourg’s “Gambit Bonnevoie”. The leading chess players in the country are continuing the fight with both teams. It should be noted that the prestigious continental event will be officially concluded on October 23.

The performance of our teams on the international stage once again demonstrates the high potential of the national chess school. The women’s team securing positions near the top significantly increases its medal chances ahead of the final rounds. Hard-fought games against strong opponents make an important contribution to enriching our players’ experience and raising their rating points.
