Diesel record in Britain: Fuel prices at an all-time high
RH
Military conflict flaring up in the Middle East has rattled global oil markets, pushing diesel prices in the UK to an all-time high. According to calculations by the RAC motoring organization, the price of a liter of diesel rose to 199.18 pence, breaking the all-time record. Petrol prices have also risen steadily, climbing to 174.13 pence per liter. The crisis, ongoing since February, has disrupted crude oil shipments and sharply driven up costs for consumers.
"Postxronika.az" reports, citing the BBC, that Brent crude has risen to $108 a barrel on global markets. Supply chain problems and the shutdown of Russian oil refineries have further sharpened the diesel shortage. Britain is extremely vulnerable to global crises as it imports diesel fuel to meet domestic demand. Experts stress that rising fuel costs will accelerate inflation through the transport and freight sector.
High prices at filling stations are dealing a serious blow to the budgets of millions of drivers and businesses across the country. Experts estimate that prices are unlikely to fall in the coming weeks until oil prices stabilize. Rising transport costs will also directly affect the prices of consumer goods and services. If tensions in the Middle East fail to ease, new records in energy prices cannot be ruled out.
