Ilham Aliyev discusses expanding cooperation with Cambodia’s prime minister
HC
On October 12, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in an expanded format.
Postxronika.az reports with reference to AZERTAC that, in his remarks at the meeting, President Ilham Aliyev said: “Dear Prime Minister, distinguished guests, welcome once again to Azerbaijan. I am very pleased to host you, and I would like to express my gratitude for accepting my invitation to pay an official visit to our country.
We have just held good talks on various aspects of our bilateral agenda. I am confident that there is great potential to strengthen our partnership. As I mentioned during the meeting we have just held, we have very good political relations, and we should make use of these relations, as well as your official visit to Azerbaijan, to develop a broad roadmap for cooperation across various fields. We have already discussed some important areas of our mutual relations, and I am sure there will be more. Of course, your visit, which demonstrates our friendship, will create a good opportunity to explore all the possibilities of bilateral contacts. Whether it concerns trade, investment, joint production, and energy security, or many other areas.
At the same time, I would like to thank you for accepting my invitation to participate in the AECM summit. This summit will be held soon. This is the first time that Azerbaijan is hosting this event. As you know, our chairmanship was supported unanimously. We consider this as a clear manifestation of the respect that member states have for our policy based on sovereignty and an independent position. I hope that this important international event will contribute to security in our region, and in the broader Eurasian region. I believe all countries need this.
Dear Prime Minister, welcome once again. I am very glad that you are visiting us with a large delegation. I wish all our guests a pleasant time in Azerbaijan. I am confident that the visit will lead to good results that will further strengthen our friendship and cooperation.
Prime Minister Hun Manet: Mr. President, thank you once again for inviting me to take part in the AECM summit and, at the same time, to an official visit. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to visit your beautiful country. I would like to thank you for the hospitality extended to me and my delegation so far. As we discussed just now, we have many opportunities to expand the mutual relations and cooperation that were established more than 30 years ago.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to convey to Your Excellency the greetings of King Norodom Sihamon i of Cambodia and of Hun Sen, Cambodia’s former Prime Minister. I look forward to continuing our discussions—discussions not only about the topics we are discussing right now, but also about the steps our countries will take together to expand cooperation.
Mr. President, thank you again for your invitation.
President Ilham Aliyev: Thank you. Please also convey my greetings to His Majesty the King and to the former Prime Minister, Sen, whom I met in this building twelve years ago.
