Winners of the third stage of the Khankendi Ultramarathon are announced

The third stage of the III International Khankendi Ultramarathon, organized jointly by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Athletics Federation, and the Baku City Ring Operating Company, has come to a close. A total of 97 athletes from six countries competed in this leg, with runners starting from the city of Barda and covering a distance of 46.8 kilometers up to Ağdam. In a hard-fought race, the leaders held on to their positions: Georgian David Xarazişvili won again among men, while Ukrainian Olena Shevchenko took first place again among women.
Postxronika.az reports, citing the Ministry of Youth and Sports, that these athletes, who also secured the title in the first two stages, further strengthened their overall lead. The participants of the four-stage tournament will cover a total distance of 192 kilometers and reach the finish line in Khankendi. This large-scale event, promoting a healthy lifestyle and the sport of running, gives a major boost to showcasing the sporting potential of different regions of our country.
Growing year by year in terms of its geography and participant lineup, this race demonstrates athletes’ endurance and determination. Winners of each stage are awarded separately, while the overall tournament champions will be awarded the main prize. The athletes will join the decisive battle in the final Ağdam–Khankendi stretch.
