RH
Azerbaijan Railways continues the implementation of projects under the State Programme for improving the transport system in Baku city and surrounding areas. The agency is carrying out design work for railway lines in the directions of Bakıxanov–Binə–Qala, Zabrat–Maştağa–Bağlar, Qaradağ–Güzdək, and Yeni Suraxanı–Hövsan. As part of the measures taken, an extensive review of the existing road infrastructure has been completed and work has begun on the next phase.
Postxronika.az reports with reference to Azerbaijan Railways that the construction and restoration of four stations is planned along the Yeni Suraxanı–Hövsan line. Compensation payments are being made to property owners of the facilities brought under construction, demolition work has been completed, and fencing of the area has started. Under the new project, construction of pedestrian crossings and various-level road overpasses is also envisaged.
The reconstruction of the suburban railway network plays a decisive role in eliminating traffic congestion in the capital. The introduction of modern infrastructure ensures passengers can travel comfortably and safely, improving the quality of public transport. Linking surrounding towns directly with the city center makes a significant contribution to the region’s socio-economic development and to expanding mobility opportunities.
