AQTA Chairman Meets with Greece’s Ambassador

The head of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency, Qoşqar Təhməzli, met with Maria Papakonstantinu, Greece’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to our country. At an official reception held between the parties, measures taken in the republic to ensure food safety and international cooperation projects were brought to the fore. Q. Təhməzli provided the diplomat with detailed information about joint partnership initiatives with foreign countries.
Postxronika.az reports with reference to the AFSA that during the talks, prospects for strengthening ties between the relevant agencies of the two countries and expanding the trade turnover of agricultural products were discussed. The meeting also included an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest, analyzing statistical indicators on import and export operations. At the end of the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of continuing the exchange of experience in quality standards monitoring.
Bilateral diplomatic and economic contacts provide a positive impetus for the application of international standards in the field of food safety. Increasing mutual supply of food products creates a basis for diversifying trade relations. Such meetings make it possible, in the future, to establish joint normative mechanisms and control systems more efficiently.
